THE LESSON BACKGROUND. Three months after the children of Israel left Egypt, they arrived at Mount Sinai (see Exodus 19:1-2). They were there about a year (see Numbers 1:1) receiving instructions for the tabernacle, the priests, and the various laws from God that we have in Exodus and Leviticus. Included in the laws God gave to Moses to give to His people included laws governing how we relate to others, especially, the poor and strangers. This week’s lesson deals with some of those laws.
