INTRODUCTION. Most of the early years of our LORD’s earthly life were spent in silence and seclusion. All four Gospels are concerned primarily with the last three years of Jesus’ life. All His miracles and all of His teachings took place in that short span of time. While John the Baptist was preparing a people for the Messiah and condemning the hypocrisy of the Jewish religious leaders, Jesus appeared on the scene to be baptized by John. After Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit led Him into the wilderness where He faced three temptations from Satan. In this week’s lesson, Jesus teaches us how to overcome temptation.
